Flash flood warning in northeast Mesa County

A large swath of western Colorado including northeast Mesa County is under a flash flood warning.

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction around 8:25 p.m. said the warning will remain in place until at least 11:30 p.m. It also covers northwest Gunnison County, southeast Garfield County, southwest Eagle County and western Pitkin County.

Slow-moving thunderstorms had dumped one to two inches of rain north of Unaweep Canyon, the Weather Service said at 8 p.m. Just over a half-inch of rainfall was recorded in two hours near Aspen’s airport.
