Flash flood watch extended for the area

A flash flood watch issued by the National Weather Service yesterday for all of eastern Utah and western Colorado has been extended into this evening, as showers and thunderstorms carrying monsoonal moisture could result in heavy rain and flooding today.

The watch is in effect through midnight tonight. Forecasters says some storms may produce heavy rainfall — an inch or more — in a short period of time.

The weather service warns that rainfall could lead to localized flash flooding, along with rock slides and debris flows in low-lying areas. Areas where there could be danger today include slot canyons, slick rock areas, normally dry creeks, streams and arroyos.
