Former Congressman Mike Strang dies
Mike Strang, who represented the West Slope in Congress from 1985 to 1987, died Sunday in Carbondale.
Strang lived to see the Denver Broncos defeat the San Diego Chargers in the AFC playoffs, “and then he checked out” with his family at his Carbondale ranch around him, said a daughter, Bridget.
Strang, a Republican, was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1986. He resumed horse and cattle ranching and worked as a consultant on natural resources and taxes after his time in Congress, which he loved, “for its movement-making and the energy,” she said..
