Former CU football player arrested over weekend
BOULDER — A former University of Colorado running back who was ruled academically ineligible to play this fall is being held on allegations that he stole a woman’s car in Boulder and punched her friend and a police officer.
The Daily Camera reports Davien Albert Payne was arrested Saturday after a woman whose car was missing from its parking spot was crossing the street — in front of a driver in her car. According to a police report, the woman says when her male friend climbed into the car through a window, the driver repeatedly punched her friend in the face.
Payne also is accused of punching an officer trying to arrest him.
Police say Payne allegedly said someone else was the driver, but a passenger said Payne was driving.
