Former wrestling coach Jim Stockert dies after stroke

Former Fruita Monument High School wrestling coach Jim Stockert died Tuesday evening after suffering a stroke, his son, Brook Stockert, told The Daily Sentinel.

Stockert, 61, was a teacher and coach at Fruita Monument for more than 30 years. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Jan. 18 at Fruita Monument High School.

Jim Stockert was an amazing man and mentor to the boys that he coached at Fruita Monument.  He went above and beyond what was expected of a coach.  I am honored to have had him coach my son.  RIP Coach Stockert!!!!
