Freeze warning in place again tonight

It’ll be another nervous night for Western Slope growers and gardeners, as a freeze warning is in effect from midnight tonight until 8 a.m. Wednesday.

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction is forecasting an overnight low in the city of 29 degrees.

Tender vegetation, including blooming fruit trees, will be threatened for several hours. There is a chance that downvalley winds will remain strong enough to keep temperatures near the freezing mark in the Palisade area and along the North Fork of the Gunnison near Paonia, according to forecasters.

The freeze warning area covers the Interstate 70 corridor from the Utah state line to De Beque Canyon, the U.S. Highway 50 corridor to Montrose and Colorado Highway 92 east to Delta and Paonia.
