Frontier Airlines to keep Denver-Aspen flights

DENVER — Frontier Airlines will fly between Denver and Aspen this ski season after all.

Frontier originally said it wouldn’t fly the route after September as it phased out its Q400 turboprop planes. But today, the Republic Airways Holdings Inc. subsidiary said it decided to keep three Q400s so it can serve Aspen and other Colorado destinations, including Durango and Colorado Springs.

It said it would offer daily flights between Denver and Aspen starting Oct. 1 and ramp up to four daily flights from Dec. 16 through April.

Delta Air Lines isn’t flying to Aspen this ski season, but Aspen airport officials say United Airlines is adding a fourth daily flight from Chicago and a second daily flight from San Francisco to Aspen this winter.
