Fugitive arrested after stealing, crashing vehicle

A wanted man was arrested in Grand Junction late this afternoon after a melee in which he allegedly fled from sheriff’s deputies, crashed his vehicle, stole another vehicle and crashed that vehicle.

Deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department’s Street Crimes Unit performed a traffic stop on a vehicle around 4:50 p.m. at the C&F Food Store, 596 25 Road, Deputy Ben Carnes said. They identified the driver as Thomas Krasowsky, 35, learned he had warrants out for his arrest and asked him to step out of the vehicle, Carnes said.

Instead, Krasowsky fled in the vehicle, entered the Paradise Valley mobile home park, 585 25 1/2 Road, crashed the vehicle, fled on foot and stole a white Jeep Cherokee from somewhere in the area of 25 Road, Carnes said.

Krasowsky then caused another accident at 25 and Patterson roads and continued to flee north on 25 Road. He crashed the stolen Jeep in the area of Canyon View Vineyard Church, 736 24 1/2 Road, and fled on foot before being caught and arrested near Caprock Academy, 714 24 1/2 Road, around 5:20 p.m. Carnes said.

Krasowsky was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital after sustaining injuries in one of the accidents. He could be charged with motor-vehicle theft, vehicular eluding, reckless driving and resisting arrest, Carnes said.
