Game 1: Central Alabama defeats Palm Beach

Central Alabama broke a tie in the eighth on an RBI triple by Darius Reese that Palm Beach State (Fla). College center fielder Mike Stemle lost in the sun.

Five different players had RBI and five different players scored for Central Alabama in a 6-4 victory in the first game of the Alpine Bank Junior College World Series. The Trojans overcame a 4-1 deficit, scoring two in the sixth and single runs in the last three innings.

Reliever Ethan Hunt threw three scoreless innings to pick up the win for the Trojans.

Palm Beach ace J.D. Underwood threw well at times but gave up 10 hits and four runs over seven innings.

Central Alabama’s B.J. Martin scored two runs after getting hit by pitches in the sixth and ninth.

Palm Beach will play Kaskaskia (Ill.) College Sunday at 10 a.m. The loser of that game will be eliminated.

Central Alabama will play Midland (Texas) College on Monday.

Midland defeated Kaskaskia 12-2 in five innings in game 2.
