DENVER — Republican Scott Gessler is Colorado’s new Secretary of State after defeating Democratic incumbent Bernie Buescher.

Gessler is a private election law attorney from Denver who will serve a four-year term after his victory Tuesday. He won 50 to 43 percent with 95 percent of the projected vote counted by today.
