GJ Police: Man dead after accidental shooting

A man died Thursday night after an accidental shooting at a home in the 2100 N. 17th Circle, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

Only one other person was in the home during the time of the shooting that was called into emergency dispatch just before 9:30 p.m., according to Grand Junction Police Department Spokeswoman Heidi Davidson.

No one had been arrested but one other male on the scene was cooperative as of 10:30 p.m., Davidson said.

Scanner reports indicated a man had accidentally shot his best friend, a 25-year-old male,  in the abdomen.

Reports said the man had the gun on a kitchen table but didn’t think the weapon was loaded.
