GJ’s Dahl selected Pioneer League MVP

Center fielder David Dahl, the Colorado Rockies’ top draft pick, was selected the Pioneer League’s Most Valuable Player today as voted upon by league managers and broadcasters.

Dahl is one of three Grand Junction Rockies on the league’s All-Star team — three more made the honorable mention list. Dahl leads the league in hits (87), total bases (142) and went on a league-leading 27-game hitting streak earlier this season. He’s second in batting average at .369.

Pitchers Eddie Butler (6-1) and Scott Oberg (11 saves) made the All-Star team, with outfielders Jeff Popick and Julian Yan and second baseman Juan Ciriaco making the honorable mention team.

The players will be recognized before the Rockies’ home game against Ogden on Sept. 5 at Suplizio Field.
