Glacier Ice Arena closing its doors
Grand Valley residents this weekend can take advantage of a last chance to ice skate — or just watch the skaters — at The Glacier Ice Arena.
The Glacier will close on Monday after a four-year run.
Owners Alan and Robbie Koos said the closure is driven by a failing refrigeration system that has flawed when it was installed.
Needed repairs to get the arena through next summer, by which time they might be able to find an investor, would cost about $450,000, the Koos family said in a statement.
“This is a very sad and emotional time for us and for the skating community as a whole. We loved providing a safe place for the youth of Mesa County to come and recreate.”
