Grand Junction’s Trujillo, Fruita Monument’s Rodriguez to meet for title

Grand Junction High School’s No. 1 ranked and undefeated Jacob Trujillo dominated Deyaun Trueblood of Gateway 11-5 in their 145 pound-semifinal match.  Minutes later Fruita Monument’s Isaac Rodriguez, ranked No. 4 by On the Mat, pinned No. 2 ranked Alec Wyatt of Prarie View in 4:37.

Rodriguez, a sophomore with a 28-5 record and Trujillo, also a sophomore and 45 wins for the season, will meet tomorrow night for the Class 5A 145-pound state championship.

They are competing in the Colorado State Wrestling championships being held at the Pepsi Center in Denver.
