Grand Junction cops investigate 2nd burglary in two weeks at medical pot shop

The Grand Junction Police Department is investigating a second burglary in two weeks at a downtown medical marijuana dispensary.

Police Sgt. Lonnie Krouse said officers were called just before 4 a.m. Monday on an audible burglar alarm at Green Natural Solutions, 753 Rood Ave. Nothing was found missing from the store.

“We have no strong suspect leads,” Krouse said.

Tanner Willis, the store’s general manager, said at least one man entered the building through a window facing the north side of the store. When he attempted to help a second man get inside, an alarm was triggered, according to Willis.

Their images were captured on the store’s video surveillance.

“I think it’s the same two from the last time,” Willis said. “We’re talking about little pot-head kids who are partying late at night.”

The same store was targeted in a burglary discovered by employees the morning of Oct. 12.

In that case, Willis said two men are seen on video surveillance entering through the same window that was believed to have been accessed Monday.

Small amounts of marijuana, along with glass smoking pipes, petty cash and a vaporizor were reported stolen.

Police assessed the value of the stolen items at more than $1,000. Willis said it’s against store policy to keep large amounts of marijuana overnight at the facility.

Willis has said video from the first incident was provided to police.

Green Natural Solutions opened in July and had no problems until the Oct. 12 incident, Willis has said.

“After two incidents, we’re going to have to put bars up in the windows,” he said Tuesday. “We’ve stepped up security in other ways.”
