Grand Valley Bikes hosts group ride

Cruisers, touring bikes, mountain bikes, road bikes, all bicycles are welcome to join in a group ride winding through downtown Grand Junction.

The group ride, put on by Grand Valley Bikes, will start at 6 p.m. Friday, April 23, at the Lincoln Park playground and end at KAFM, 1310 Ute Ave.

The ride will be followed by music from the bluegrass group Stray Grass, refreshments and information about Grand Valley Bikes will be from 7–10 p.m. at the KAFM Radio Room.

Grand Valley Bikes is “a group of citizens, cyclists and motorists who are working toward significantly increasing non-motorized transportation,” according to http://www.grandvalleybikes.org.

The group plans to be an advocate in the Grand Valley for bicycle accessibility, improved cycling infrastructure, more bicycling and traffic safety and other cycling-related issues.

Cost to attend the event is $10 and children age 12 and younger are free.
