UPDATE: Missing snowmobiler found safe on Grand Mesa

Dispatchers in Delta County learned just before 1 p.m. today that a snowmobiler reported missing last night is safe on Grand Mesa, authorities said this afternoon.

The man reportedly ran out of gas and made his way to Electric Mountain Lodge, Mesa County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Heather Benjamin said.

Authorities this morning had mobilized helicopters form CenturyLink, as well as the High Altitude Army National Guard training center in Eagle County, toward assisting more than 20 Mesa County Sheriff’s Office search and rescue volunteers. They were dispatched around 7 p.m. Thursday to the Bonham Reservoir area after a lone snowmobiler got separated and didn’t return as planned, according to the sheriff’s office.

The group of four snowmobilers made a day run Thursday from Bonham Reservoir area to Alexander Lodge, and were returning when the lone rider got lost.
