Huerfano County wildfire destroys buildings
WALSENBURG — Fire officials say a blaze in southern Colorado is growing in hot, gusty weather and has destroyed some buildings.
The East Peak Fire in Huerfano (WEHR’-fah-noh) County was estimated at 14 square miles Friday. Fire officials say nine homes and four outbuildings have been lost.
About 20 homes with 26 residents have been evacuated, and more than 170 Boy Scouts left the Spanish Peaks Scout Ranch after the fire broke out Wednesday.
