Humidity helps efforts at fire near Fort Collins
FORT COLLINS — Firefighters in Larimer County are still trying to contain a wildfire that has scorched up to 1,000 acres in the foothills west of Fort Collins.
Officials say they are mapping the fire, and expect the size will likely be larger than previously reported. They are hoping two helicopters will be available to help out on Monday.
The sheriff’s office says wet weather prevented the fire from growing much Sunday. No injuries or damage have been reported.
At its height, the fire forced hundreds of residents from their homes Friday. Evacuees were allowed to return Saturday night, but were told to be prepared to leave again.
