Hundreds mourn woman killed while on 911 call

DENVER — A Denver woman who was was shot to death while on the phone with 911 dispatchers, allegedly by her husband, is being remembered as a devoted mother to her three young sons.

A funeral was held Friday for 44-year-old Kristine Kirk, who died April 14. Her husband, Richard Kirk, faces a charge of first-degree murder.

Police are investigating whether marijuana-infused candy that Richard Kirk ate before the shooting influenced his behavior. Kristine Kirk told dispatchers her husband may have also taken prescription pain pills.

The Denver Post reports hundreds of mourners attended Kristine Kirk’s funeral at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church.

Her older sister, Tammy Heman, remembered her as a woman with many talents who loved being a mother to her sons Ethan, Aiden and Andrew.
