The Class 4A and Class 5A regional seeding meeting has been postponed until Tuesday, with regional brackets released Tuesday evening.

Mavericks upset No. 14 Metro

AJ Marquez scored his first goal of the season for the Colorado Mesa University men’s soccer team, connecting off Jeremy Gwerder’s corner kick in overtime Sunday as the Mavericks upset No. 14 Metro State 2-1 in Denver.

The corner came only 1 minute, 29 seconds into overtime and capped the come-from-behind win for the Mavericks (3-9-1, 3-6-0) RMAC).

Scott Grode of Metro (7-4-1, 5-3-0) scored 6:28 into the game on a header. Danny Molineaux scored his fourth goal of the season at the 38:08 mark to tie the game, and the teams’ defenses took over from there.

Metro kept CMU keeper Micah Conrads busy, taking 19 shots, seven on goal. Conrads made six saves. Mesa managed eight shots, three on goal.

Mavs score early, but fall to Mines

Colorado Mesa’s women’s soccer team started uncharacteristically fast, with Tayler Franklin scoring 9 minutes, 10 seconds into the game Sunday, but Colorado School of Mines answered with four goals in a 4-1 victory in Golden.

After Mines’ Bree Archuleta scored four minutes after Franklin’s goal, the Mavericks attempted to clear a corner kick but it deflected off one of CMU’s players and into the goal for a 2-1 Mines lead. Another goal just before the end of the first half gave the No. 25 Orediggers a 3-1 lead ad they added another goal midway through the second half.

Colorado Mesa (6-5-2, 5-2-2 RMAC) outshot Mines (9-1-1, 5-1-1) 14-9, but only five were on goal.
