Infant’s death labeled suspicious in Montrose
Montrose authorities have labeled suspicious the death of a 4-month-old boy who was rushed to Montrose Memorial Hospital on Thursday.
Angel Nieto was pronounced dead just after noon Saturday, hours after the baby had been declared brain dead at Children’s Hospital in Denver, according to the Montrose County Coroner’s Office. Nieto had been flown to the Denver hospital after he was initially treated at Montrose Memorial Hospital, where the boy was admitted Thursday afternoon at the emergency room unconscious and in critical condition.
The Montrose Police Department and Coroner’s office has opened an investigation.
An autopsy is pending in Adams County.
