Josh Moore pitches Tigers past Panthers

Josh Moore threw a four-hitter as Grand Junction defeated Montezuma-Cortez 7-0 on Friday at Canyon View Park.

The Tigers took a 4-0 lead after two innings when Chandon Rose tripled and Hutton Veach, Jeff Hansen and Steve Baldwin doubled.

Grand Junction (11-6, 4-3 Southwestern League) plays Durango at 12:30 today at Canyon View.

GIRLS TENNIS

Fruita Monument improved its dual meet record to 7-2 with a 7-0 win over Montezuma-Cortez.

Grace Gaglione won her No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-0 to lead the sweep. The Wildcats dropped only two games in singles.

LACROSSE

Anna Wedekin and Bailey Reiners each scored three goals as Grand Junction won at Summit, 17-7.

Grand Junction (9-1) took 41 shots.

Holly Meer had nine saves for the Tigers.

Fruita’s boys team defeated Telluride 14-2.

GIRLS SOCCER

Despite 10 saves by Lexi Anderson, Grand Junction fell to Smoky Hill, 3-0.

Smoky Hill outshot Grand Junction (8-4) 12-10.
