Jury seated in Nemnich murder trial

A jury of Mesa County residents, seven men and seven women, will hear opening statements this afternoon in the trial of a man accused in a 1975 double murder in Grand Junction.

District Attorney Pete Hautzinger’s opening to the jury in the trial of Jerry Nemnich is expected to start around 1:30 p.m. in District Judge Brian Flynn’s courtroom.

Nemnich, 65, has pleaded not guilty on two counts of first-degree murder, and two counts of felony murder, in the July 25, 1975, stabbing deaths of Linda Benson and her daughter, Kelley.
