Two lost men in Knowles Canyon rescued by copter

Two hikers lost in the Knowles Canyon area were located Monday evening by Search and Rescue members who were in a helicopter en route to the remote area. The helicopter picked up the two men, “who are cold and hungry but otherwise well,” according to Heather Benjamin, spokeswoman for the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department. The Search and Rescue Team responded to the Knowles Canyon area Monday after a family member reported one of the men, from the Denver-area, missing at about 8:45 a.m. The men are in their mid-40s and had a dog with them. No information about the dog was available Monday night.
