Loveland fracking campaign heating up
LOVELAND — A fracking debate in Loveland is heating up in advance of a ballot measure to be considered later this month.
A pro-fracking group is holding a rally Tuesday evening to oppose an upcoming ballot measure to put a moratorium on hydraulic fracturing. The Reporter-Herald reports that the rally comes just before a city council meeting.
On June 24 Loveland will become the latest Front Range city to consider some sort of limits on the procedure.
Business groups are largely opposed to Loveland’s ballot measure. The proposed initiative would suspend fracking in city limits for two years. It would also prohibit for the same time the storage and disposal of waste products from hydraulic fracturing in the Loveland city limits.
