Man booked; ex-girlfriend not hurt after alleged kidnapping

A Grand Junction man who recently was released from jail was in custody again Thursday night, accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend, police said.

Joseph Wesley Tucker, 45, was arrested after 9:30 p.m. at an address on El Torro Road on Orchard Mesa.

Police dispatchers sent emergency notification calls to homes in the area and a person who received one of those calls spotted Tucker’s vehicle and called police, Grand Junction police spokeswoman Kate Porras said.

The kidnapped woman, Tracy Brown, was with Tucker when he was arrested. She appeared unharmed, Porras said.

Officers went to the area of 555 U.S. Highway 50 around 6:15 p.m. after a report that Tucker had kidnapped Brown, with whom he had a prior relationship. Witnesses reported seeing Tucker carry the woman across the highway against her will, place her in a silver and blue 1981 AMC Eagle and drive south on the highway.

Porras said that she did not know the reason why Tucker was in jail most recently, but that Tucker has a history of domestic violence, including against Brown.

Police dispatch reports indicated Brown has a restraining order against Tucker preventing him from having any contact with her.
