Man crushed while working on car in Fruitvale
A 50-year-old man was killed this afternoon when a car fell on him while he was performing maintenance on the car at a Fruitvale home, Grand Junction police said.
Officers were called at 12:09 p.m. on a report of a man trapped underneath a vehicle at 587 Darby Dr., Unit 4, a police news release said. The man’s name wasn’t released pending notification of relatives.
With its front hood still up, an older model Dodge Daytona remained in front of the property as of 1 p.m. The front wheels of the car were on the sidewalk — adjacent to patches of ice and snow — as several wooden blocks were observed behind the front and rear tires.
Police are still investigating.
