Man dies following fight at Salt Lake gas station

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake police say a 62-year-old man is dead following a fight at a downtown gas station Wednesday night.

Police spokesman Lt. James Nelson reports the man got into a fight with another customer, described as a man in his 50s, at Smith’s Express convenience store on South Temple.

The identities of the men have not been released.

Nelson told KSL-TV that it appears the 62-year-old started the confrontation, which led to the other man elbowing him in the head.

Nelson says after the fight, the older man stumbled to his car and slumped over the steering wheel once he got inside.

No arrests have been made and police are still investigating if the fight caused the man’s death.
