Man held on suspicion of murder after dismembered body found in car

CENTENNIAL — A 24-year-old man who was reported missing along with his mother has been arrested after a woman’s dismembered body was found in the back seat of the car he was driving.

Relatives had reported Ari Liggett and his mother missing Monday.

Arapahoe County sheriff’s officials determined through monitoring credit card transactions that the two traveled to the Western Slope early Tuesday. Around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, they noticed a car associated with the mother and son driving near the family’s home.

An officer apprehended the driver, identified as Liggett. He is being held without bond on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Sheriff’s officials haven’t confirmed the identity of the body pending an investigation by coroner’s officials.

Sheriff’s officials say they found a liquid that may be potassium cyanide in Liggett’s home.
