RSSMan shot during Montrose stop free on bond

A man who was shot by a Montrose County sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop earlier this month is free after posting bond.
Tryllen Richards, 31, was released from a hospital Saturday after being treated for a gunshot wound and was also released from custody after posting a $60,000 surety bond, according to Montrose sheriff’s spokeswoman Bobbie McCoid. He was briefly jailed on suspicion of first-degree assault, felony menacing and speeding.
Richards was believed to be a passenger in a vehicle who was wounded by deputies on the morning of Feb. 7 on Colorado Highway 145 in Naturita during a traffic stop. A deputy also suffered minor injuries.
The incident remains under investigation by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the 7th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
