Mancos expects to restore water service Monday

CORTEZ — Mancos officials say drinkable water should be flowing out of taps by Monday after a pump failure at the treatment plant last weekend.

The Cortez Journal reports some water was flowing by Tuesday, but the town remained under a boil order.

Town officials brought in portable toilets and a water tanker, and Walmart donated 30 pallets of bottled water.

Fire hydrants were opened Wednesday to purge the system. Testing is planned over the weekend.

Officials say the public will be notified when the water is safe to drink.
