Mavericks’ magical season ends

SAN ANTONIO — Despite an early lead, the Colorado Mesa University women’s basketball team had no answer inside for Dowling College’s 6-foot-3 center, Danielle Wilson, and lost 60-44 in the quarterfinals today of the women’s NCAA Division II Elite Eight.

Wilson finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and seven blocked shots, and altered several more.

Colorado Mesa (31-2) shot only 29.3 percent from the field. Kelsey Sigl led the Mavericks with 15 points.
