Mavericks reach NCAA softball tourney
The Colorado Mesa University softball team’s RMAC tournament effort was enough to get the Mavericks into the NCAA tournament.
The Mavericks (26-22) came up one game shy of reaching the championship game, but this morning received the No. 7 seed in the Central Region tournament.
Mesa plays second-seeded Augustana (45-9) at 1:30 p.m. (MDT) on Friday in Sioux Falls, S.D. At 11 a.m., No. 2 Winona (Minn.) State plays first-year program Colorado Christian, coached by former Mesa baseball and basketball standout Daven Bond.
The NCAA splits each regional into two sites, with Minnesota State-Mankato receiving the No. 1 overall seed and playing No. 8 Fort Lewis, which won the RMAC tournament and received the automatic bid from the conference.
