McDaniels says he’s not focused on his job status

ENGLEWOOD — Josh McDaniels says he’s not worried that the Denver Broncos’ embarrassing issues both on and off the field might cost him his job because the decision is out of his hands.

The Broncos’ second-year coach said his only focus is on fixing what’s gone wrong during a 3-8 season sullied by a videotaping scandal that cost him and the team $50,000 each and resulted in a subordinate’s firing over the weekend.

After declining to comment on them a day earlier, McDaniels also addressed reports that during a confidential staff meeting last week he had minimized the scope of the scandal relative to New England’s Spygate, where an NFL investigation found systemic videotaping of opponents and levied heavy penalties.
