Memorial fund set up for family of miner killed in accident

A memorial fund has been set up so people can make financial donations to the family of Nick Cappanno, who was one of two men who died in a mining accident in Ouray on Sunday.

Cappanno left behind a family that includes his wife, Martha, as well as two young sons, according to a webpage at cappannomemorialfund.com.

“Nick and Martha always dreamed the boys would have every opportunity to chase their dreams and also seek a higher education,” the website reads. “It is the hope of this fund to not only see that Nick and Martha’s dreams for the boys come true, but to exceed Nick’s dreams for his family.”

The fund has been established through Alpine Bank, and check donations can be dropped off at any Alpine Bank location or mailed to: Cappanno Family Memorial Fund, care of Alpine Bank, 2770 Alpine Bank Dr., Montrose 81401.

It’s also possible to make a donation online, with a debit or credit card, at the Cappanno fund website.
