Mesa now ranked 14th in nation

Colorado Mesa moved up three spots to No. 14 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division II poll, released Thursday.

It is the highest ranking for the Mavericks since the program was reinstated seven years ago and in their NCAA Division II history.

Jon Gappmaier is ranked third at 157 pounds and Zak Slotten is ranked eighth at 174.

Returning All-Americans Chester Granard (165) and Nick Petersen (184) dropped out of the top eight.

The Mavericks wrestle Saturday in the Grand Canyon (Ariz.) Duals.
