Mesa rally falls short

The Colorado Mesa University football team rallied from a three-touchdown deficit and nearly forced overtime before losing 28-20 to the Colorado School of Mines at Stocker Stadium.

Mesa quarterback Steve Romero missed completing a pass receiver Robert Felberg by a few inches for a touchdown with less than 30 seconds left that would’ve got Mesa within two points. Romero completed 27 of 47 passes for 326 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Jake Cimolino had 20 carries for 126 yards and one touchdown.

Colorado Mines built a 28-6 halftime lead with three touchdowns runs, but it was quarterback Clay Garcia that got the Orediggers in scoring position. He completed 26 of 42 passes for 396 yards and one touchdown.
