Mesa women crack top 10
Two victories last weekend vaulted the Colorado Mesa University women’s basketball team into the USA Today/WBCA top 10.
The Mavericks, 12-0 for the first time in school history, are one of seven undefeated teams in Division II. They received 531 votes to move up from No. 13, where they were ranked at the end of 2012.
It’s the highest ranking for the women’s team since the 2001-02 team was ranked No. 7 at the end of the regular season. CMU plays at CSU-Pueblo, which received two votes, on Friday and CU-Colorado Springs on Saturday. The only other RMAC team to receive votes is Metro State, with seven.
The Metro State men remained at No. 2 in the NABC national rankings, with Adams State No. 18 and Fort Lewis No. 25.
