Montrose coroner: GJ woman died of hypothermia

A Grand Junction woman who was found dead in a vehicle in Montrose last week died of hypothermia, the Montrose County Coroner’s Office said in a release.

Jodie Anne Valerio, 47, Grand Junction, was identified Thursday after she was found dead in a vehicle on the Uncompahgre Plateau in the area of Sawmill Mesa.

The Mesa County Coroner’s Office said she died because of exposure to the cold. Toxicology reports indicated she had methamphetamine and ecstasy in her system.

Her manner of death is listed as an accident, the coroner’s office said.

Montrose Coroner Dr. Thomas Canfield said there was no evidence of foul play.
