Montrose county manager cites lack of ‘civility’ in resignation letter

In an unusually long letter announcing his resignation as Montrose county manager, Rick Eckert cites a constant contentious tone among Montrose citizens, their government officials and the media as the impetus for him leaving the job. He also cites the county’s recent wrangling over inviting a new fixed-based operator to Montrose Regional Airport as a tipping point in his decision.

Eckert’s resignation will be effective May 16. The county announced he was leaving earlier this week. Eckert is said to be on vacation now.
