Montrose says yes to rec center funding

Voters in Montrose County have passed a sales tax increase to fund a new recreation center, according to unofficial vote tallies Tuesday.

The measure to increase the Montrose city sales tax 0.3 percent, raising the overall sales tax rate from 7.65 to 7.95 percent, to fund a recreation center estimated to cost about $25.5 million, passed by a margin of 52 to 47 percent.
