Veterans to be honored in Montrose

MONTROSE—A number of events are scheduled Friday in Montrose in honor of Veterans Day, including a free breakfast for veterans and a flyover during a memorial service slated for 11 a.m.

From 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., a free breakfast for veterans will be served at the Montrose Elks Lodge, 801 S. Hillcrest Drive. Guests are asked to pay $1.50.

At 10 a.m., Montrose High School will host a Veterans Day assembly and will feature veteran and Montrose County Schools Superintendent Mark MacHale as the keynote speaker.

At 11 a.m., a Veterans Day memorial service will take place at Grand View Cemetery and will feature guest speakers Bob Strong and Cleo Elliott. A flyover is planned during the ceremony. Lunch will be served following the ceremony at Montrose Bank, 200 N. Townsend Ave.
