More national park fire evacuees returning home
ESTES PARK — All remaining evacuations for residents who live near a wildfire in Rocky Mountain National Park are being lifted.
Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith said some residents will still be on standby Friday in case conditions get worse. He says smoke and possibly some flames will be visible for the foreseeable future.
The Fern Lake Fire has been burning for nearly two months and has scorched about six square miles. It is 45 percent contained.
The fire has burned at least one cabin and forced evacuations in and around the park.
