More snow headed to Colorado’s mountains

DENVER — More snow is headed to Colorado’s mountains after a Christmas Eve storm dropped up to 20 inches on snow in parts of the high country.

Widespread snow was expected tpday in western Colorado. The National Weather Service says the mountains will get between 6 and 14 inches of snow while between 2 and 6 inches will fall in the valleys.

A storm that moved across the state on Christmas Eve dropped 20 inches of snow on some parts of Grand Mesa. The Powderhorn ski resort, which sits at the edge of the mesa, reports getting 14 inches of new snow in the last 48 hours.

A storm that’s hitting the nation’s midsection has cancelled some flights into Denver from Indianapolis and Pittsburgh and is delaying some departures for Cincinnati, Philadelphia and La Guardia.
