More than five pounds of meth found during I-70 stop
Deputies with the Western Colorado Drug Task Force said they interdicted five-plus pounds of methamphetamine in a traffic stop along Interstate 70 yesterday morning.
Arrested in connection with the find was the car’s lone occupant, Carlos Garcia, 36, of Los Angeles.
The drugs were found in the trunk of a rental car driven by Garcia, further hidden in the inside liner of a cooler, authorities said.
Garcia was arrested in Mesa County in 1999 for transporting eight pounds of marijuana via the Greyhound Bus depot in Grand Junction, according to an arrest affidavit. He was convicted in connection with that case.
