Mud Spring CG open, says BLM, but no water yet available
A lighter-than-normal snowpack has allowed the Bureau of Land Management to open its popular Mud Springs Campground near Glade Park nearly a month earlier than usual.
The popular 16-site campground, located approximately 20 miles southwest of Grand Junction at about 8,000 feet in elevation, typically opens in mid-May.
A BLM spokesperson said campers will have to supply their own water until May 4.
“We won’t have any water available until May 4, however, so you’ll have to bring plenty of water until then,” said Michelle Bailey, assistant field manager for recreation and cultural.
Until the water is turned on, no fee will be charged to camp at Mud Springs. Beginning May 4, the standard $10 fee per day per site will apply.
The campground offers 14 single sites and two group sites for recreational use as well as 10 day-use picnic sites.
