Musgrave hired by Vikings
Former Grand Junction High School quarterback Bill Musgrave has been hired as the Minnesota Vikings’ new offensive coordinator, according to the Vikings’ website, vikings.com.
Musgrave has spent the past five seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, most recently as the quarterbacks coach and assistant head coach, a promotion before the 2010 season. A 1986 graduate of Grand Junction, Musgrave also interviewed with the Cleveland Browns and some reports had him in line to be the Browns offensive coordinator. Musgrave is credited with much of Matt Ryan’s quick progression as a starting quarterback. An 11-year coaching veteran, Musgrave was a backup quarterback in the NFL for six seasons, playing behind Joe Montana and Steve Young in San Francisco. He was also John Elway’s backup in Denver.
