Natural gas pipeline fails in Summit County

FRISCO — Xcel Energy says people in Summit County need to reduce the use of natural gas so they can make repairs to a pipeline.

The power company is asking customers not use natural gas appliances such as fireplaces, gas-fired hot tubs and dryers until Monday afternoon.

The pipeline failed Sunday, affecting residents in Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain, Dillon, Silverthorne and Frisco.

The power company is also asking people to reduce their natural gas usage by turning their thermostats down to 60 degrees or lower so repairs can be completed.
