New D Road bridge finished

Construction of the new D Road bridge over No Thoroughfare Drainage Wash was completed Wednesday, and the bridge is open to traffic.

Construction of the $582,850 bridge started April 12 and created a long detour for residents of the Rosevale neighborhood.

The project was finished on time by Martinez Western Constructors Inc. of Rifle, according to a news release from the city of Grand Junction.

The new bridge is 46 feet wide and 50 feet long. It was built to safely accommodate pedestrians and cyclists with bike lanes and sidewalks on both sides.

Turn lanes also were added at the intersection with Monument Road.
